The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will soon be rolling out an online system for the administration of domestic taxes in a bid to expand it's revenue collection. The system which is set to be fully launched by June 2013 is currently being piloted in 120 companies, including large retail networks, which are filing their income and value added taxes online.
With this new system, Kenyans will be able to register, file returns, make payments and enquire about our tax status, while monitoring our accounts in real-time 24 hours a day, from the comfort of wherever we are-with our internet.
Still, we will be able to file our returns offline by downloading the returns forms, filling them and uploading them whenever you wish.
Through this system, tax compliance will be a simple, quick and secure exercise, thus bringing down the cost of tax compliance in logistics. It will also help out in reducing interaction between KRA staff and taxpayers thus eliminating cases of bribery claims.
You can access the iPage on iTax portal here, if only just for a sneak peak.
