Over eight million members in the Jua Kali sector stand to benefit from APA's new insurance cover. "Heshima Mpango Poa" will provide cash benefits to members after a the death of a family member. APA's chief executive Simon Clayton says that the product is tailor made precisely for consumers who are discouraged by high cover premiums.
Mr. Clayton spoke during the launch of the new product in Nairobi, adding that the partnership will be convenient for the target clientèle. APA has too ensured that the process will avoid the long discouraging paperwork involved in application. Consumers of this product will start benefiting by registering through the various mobile money platforms in the country, M-pesa, Airtel Money, Yu Cash and Orange Money after which they will be supplied with a policy number and the annual premiums. Fridah Mburu of APA was unavailable to offer details on the registration procedure.
Beneficiaries who'll choose annual premium remittances of KES 350, will receive payment of KES 25,000. Those who'll be remitting KES 1,400 annually in premiums will receive KES 100, 000. APA adds that these claims will be settled within 48 hrs after reporting death.
