KenGen is in the verge of generating the the biggest natural health spa in Africa at the Olkaria geothermal fields. The spa, that will be able to handle a capacity of 500 people at the same time, is set for completion in February next year; and is projected to cost KES 25 million.
According to the Business Daily, construction of the spa, which will have four interconnected lagoons, a sauna and a steam bath is already undergoing, on an expansive piece of land inside Hells Gate National Park to the west of Olkaria II power plant. Visitors will pay normal Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) charges to enter the park, then pay KenGen an addition fee in order to access the recreation facility.
KWS charges KES 300 for citizens and residents while children pay KES 200 to get into Hell’s Gate National Park, which is a member of the Scenic and Special Interest Park, while international visitors pay USD 15, the equivalent of (KES 1,285).
The Business Daily further reports that the Spa will be called Direct Use Centre, and that it will also host a geological and geothermal museum tracking the development of geothermal resources in Kenya as well as progression of global technology for converting steam into economic activities.
Who Needs a Spa Anyway?
Spending a day out in a spa is good for your health. Massages help relax muscle tension, but are you aware of all the benefits of a good massage? Massage relaxes not only your muscles, but your entire body, nervous system and even your mind.
A good massage administered by a pro at a day spa can make the rest of your week a breeze. Massage also helps your blood circulate better, your stomach digest better, your lungs breathe better and help your lymphatic system get rid of toxins and waste. It can also help with pain relief from any number of illnesses.
And Who is Sauna?
Well, Sauna is nobody, it’s something. It’s basically a bathhouse or room for taking a steam and hot water bath. That bath is what is called hydrotherapy which is good for you as well. Hydrotherapy promotes good circulation by dilating the blood vessels. It also helps with muscle soreness and stiffness by helping the muscles relax naturally. It’s a great alternative to taking muscle relaxants. It also stimulates the body’s endorphins, which are used as a natural pain killer.
Having a day out in a health spa is simply having stress free day.
