Nairobi City Council has taken over control of COMESA parking ground situated at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre(KICC). Nairobi Town Clerk Roba Duba says the council has been forced to take the step because KICC owes the City Council arrears amounting to Sh26m.

The open area parking lot within KICC's perimeter fence will now be operated and charged on the City Council's Shs. 140 a day parking rates. It has not however been established for how the City Council will collect parking revenue from the parking area.

This has only come days after its emerged that the government owes the City Council of Nairobi more than Sh100 billion in unpaid taxes and other fees for services rendered with about Sh60 billion of this owed in accrued land rate. Duba says that this has put the council in a bad financial state which affects service delivery.
