National Carrier Kenya Airways in a bid to stay ahead of competition on certain African routes has offered its passengers from Dubai to several African destinations a 10% discount on the air ticket.
The airline will be charging 10% off on all tickets from Dubai to Nairobi, Entebbe, Lagos, Johannesburg and Juba in South Sudan. The offer however is available for the airline customers who book for their flights online alone.
This comes at a time when air fares have been on the rise due to increase in jet fuel pushed by international fuel prices. Last Month, Kenya Airports Authority announced it will increase airport access fees for airlines using its facility. This is the amount a passenger is charged for using the airport facilities and airlines, including Kenya Airways feared they had to increase air ticket charges to enable them recover the cost.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) also increased landing charges for planes using Kenyan airports. Kenya Airways uses Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as its hub.
