KQ Promises Direct Flights to all African Capitals

Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced plans to link Kenya with all of Africa’s commercial and political capital cities by the end of 2013. This means that flight passengers may soon have direct flights to every country in the continent as the airliner continues to roll out its Embraer 190 (E 190) plane models.

Following a series of tests that took place in an assembly plant in San Jose, Brazil, KQ has revealed that the 96-seater will officially join their fleet by the end of this week. This comes shortly after the airliner announced plans to expand its continental reach in June 2012.

The initiative is still in its first phase due to the fact that similar plane models have not branched past Eastern, Western and Southern African routes within the continent. For now, the E190 will only cover regional and medium-distant destinations.

This is the company’s 36th plane in move that will see the airliner attain one bird every month until April next year. KQ hopes to have at least 50 planes by the close of 2013 and 100 by 2016.
