Barclays Bank of Kenya, has extended a boost to local domestic tourism as the Barclays Business Club members headed to Amboseli National Park for a two day business workshop beginning Friday 20th.
In the maiden Business Club trip this year, more than 420 entrepreneurs are set to travel for a networking and business opportunity review workshop.
Speaking during the flagging off event for the first batch of 210 Barclays Business Club members, Barclays Bank Regional Managing Director Adan Mohamed said that such events are intended to re-energize the entrepreneurs as they take stock of their businesses performance for the past year and put in place measures for expected success
“This is the first local trip for Barclays Business Club trip this year. These trips not only accord entrepreneurs an opportunity to come together and share best practices but also provide them an opportunity to gauge the health of their business as they savor Kenya’s tourist sites and wildlife,” he added
Since the inception of Barclays Business Club in 2003, more than 7,000 members have been assisted by Barclays to visit local and international destinations while sealing business transactions worth Billions of shillings both locally and internationally.
The Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) Managing Director Mr. Muriithi Ndegwa who flagged off the team disclosed that the use of local tourist destinations is geared at supporting domestic tourism growth initiatives to supplement international tourist supply.
“ It is through such partnerships and interventions that we will be able to achieve our Vision 2030 projected gross tourism earnings of at least Kshs 100 billion by the year 2012,” Ndegwa explained.
Over the past two years, Barclays Bank has managed to facilitate domestic trips for its Club members. Besides providing networking forums, Barclays offers other value-adds such as facilitating international business trips, tailor-made services, and quarterly seminars on tax management, marketing, investment, and financing options.
