Managing your finances can be very challenging; you may fail over and over and in turn sink into a depression. Why is this the case, why do most of us constantly fail at managing our money?
Well, the answer is quite simple: we are never trained on how to be smart with money. There are no schools that will teach you to be smart with money; instead they will simply equip you with skills that will hopefully make you some money.
“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune” – Jim Rohn.
To be money smart is your responsibility, yours alone; though here are three things that I believe can put you in the right footing towards managing your money better:
1. Develop The Right Money Mindset.
Your money mindset is all about your attitude towards money. Most of us might still believe that saving money is a too difficult task, or that money is evil, or money makes people greedy. These plus many other negative money thoughts affect how we manage our money and how much of it we’ll make.
The first thing you should do in order to manage your money better and attract more is to lose these negative attitudes about money. You need to nurture a healthy money attitude and be comfortable with the idea that you too can make it despite your financial challenges or woes.
2. Choose Simplicity
It’s no secret that we live in a very complex world, one driven by competition and consumerism, one where a few wealthy individuals dictate, through their products and services, how we should live our lives.
Our lifestyle demands have pushed us into a none-ending pursuit for things. Take a minute to pause and look at the stuff around you that you spent money on………………………………………………………………………. Now picture this, you spent, someone else got richer while you got a little bit poorer.
You need to understand that people are business, and theirs is to make money and more of it from you.
All you have to do is to rethink your values and priorities, then pursue those things that matter most.
3. Cultivate Discipline
Nothing of importance is ever achieved without discipline. Life will always present challenges and problems on our path to success and achievement. In order to triumph and proceed with perseverance and persistence we have to be self disciplined. Self discipline gives you the power and inner strength to overcome addictions, laziness and to follow through whatever you do.
If you are to manage your money successfully, then you need to cultivate, develop and strengthen self discipline in your life.
