The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has increased all public performance fees license fees by 11%. The rise of this fees comes with effect to changes in the consumer price index (CPI) for the period between 1st October 2011 and 30th September 2012. MCSK said through a media statement that these increments shall apply to the licenses due for renewal beginning 1st January 2013 and to any new licensees for the duration of the license year.
The new license fees shall be rounded of to the nearest KES 50, with new tariffs for the license year 2012/2013 being available at the organisation’s website.
Payment Options
HCorporate rates shall apply to companies, SACCOs, Associations and any other organized groups which shall be making payments for 10 or more licensees. Office payment rates will apply to single licensee making payments in the respective MCSK payment offices. Express or VIP rates shall apply to those licensees who are issued by MCSK at the comfort of their business premises.
The copyright society says that if payments due on 1st January 2013 are paid before 21st December 2012, the licensees will get a 10% discount, while late payment will attract a 50% penalty
