As tweeted by K24 TV, the deadline for City Council of Nairobi Operation Clamp down for rates defaulters set to end today, August 8, 2012 has been extended for another ten days.
We were though unable to get in touch with City Council of Nairobi to confirm this news.
According to K24, property owners in Eastlands, Dagoreti and Kasarani have fairly complied while those in Karen, Embakasi, Clayworks and Kibera were sluggish in doing so. As stated by the Town Clerk, those who fail to pay their rates stand to lose their property.
KES 400 million has so far been collected since the 3 weeks rates waiver period was announced. CCN was though targeting KES 1O billion to have been collected by the end of the grace period.
