Nairobi Water Company is proving unreliable by the day. The company firsts announced that it will take up to five days to repair the Sasuma Dam supply pipe. Less than two days after the announcement, the five-day duration was extended to two weeks.
To further express how unreliable Nairobi Water Company is, it posted its water distribution schedule for the affected areas, a schedule it has failed miserably in following.
I am not trying to slander Nairobi Water Company’s reputation, but facts speak for themselves. What is the use of announcing a schedule you cannot follow?
As per the Water Distribution Schedule, there are areas that were scheduled to get water but to date, taps run dry in those areas. Dagoreti Corner and its environs had been scheduled to get water on Wednesday morning as of 11.00 a.m, but water started streaming in on Tuesday evening and by 9.00 am Wednesday morning the taps were dry.
Many had to alter their daily schedule to fit in with the announced water distribution schedule, but failing to deliver or altering the schedule greatly inconveniences consumers.
To make things worse, Nairobi Water Customer Care team has ignored complains from its customers concerning the above issue. Queries posted on Nairobi Water Facebook page and Twitter handle have gone without response.
I might have spoken too soon in my previous post: Nairobi Water, Improving Reliability, where I praised Nairobi Water, I take back my words.
I guess this is the cost of a monopolistic run public enterprise.
All in all, we look forward to a speedy restoration of steady water supply, and it is my sincerest hope that Nairobi Water will put its business in order.
