As regional retailer, Nakumatt Holdings, steps up its market development plans, the retail chain is now all set to open the doors to Kenya’s largest multi-media store.
In line with its strategic focus to provide lifestyle enhancing products and services, Nakumatt Holdings will in coming days open the door to its latest Kshs 25 million multi-media brand store.
The pilot media store will feature Kenya’s largest selection of books, toys and entertainment mediums such as music and movie CD’s and DVD’s alongside a fully fledged interactive gaming section.
Speaking when he announced the commissioning of the new media stores to be branded as ‘Planet Media’, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Mr. Atul Shah said the firm’s expansion to entertainment and educational media retailing is part of the firm’s overall corporate strategic plan.
“As a progressive retailer, we are now planning to open the doors to Planet Media which is a new generation media store that will be retailing a wide selection of DVD’s, CD’s, toys, Books, Home entertainment units and related gaming gadgets,” Shah explained.
And added: “The launch of Planet Media is part of our ongoing corporate strategy to enhance our retail offering covering both the traditional and emerging retail platforms.”
The first Planet Media store will be located at Westgate Mall’s second floor landing and will also incorporate Kenya’s first branded entertainment market. Within Planet Media, leading consumer electronic houses Samsung, LG and Sony will showcase their range of home entertainment units and gaming consoles.
Progressively, Planet Media also hope to unveil Kenya’s first fully-fledged BOSE digital consumer electronics store and has also expressed an interest to develop a mini Apple Store subject tolicense agreements from the respective manufacturers.
Distinctively, Planet Media will provide a retail platform for consumers to try out the range of media products on sale in a conducive environment.
“Retailing of entertainment media requires an environment where the consumer can conveniently sample the range of music, movies or gaming consoles on offer,” Shah stressed.
The launch of the new Planet Media comes hot on the heels of the recent announcement that Nakumatt has embarked on a strategic project to incorporate customer experience centres and exclusive brand stores within its branch network.
In the trendsetting development, Nakumatt Holdings is partnering with its local and global suppliers to develop brand stores and custom experience centres that allow shoppers to enjoy product applications in various settings.
The centres to be developed under Nakumatt’s Shop in Shop concept will also provide technical advisory services to shoppers, effectively providing a one-stop shop for various lifestyle products.
Already, Nakumatt Holdings in partnership with its lighting products supplier, Creative Innovations has unveiled a Kshs 10million household lighting experience centre at Nakumatt Westgate.
The new household lighting experience centre has been custom developed in conjunction with Dutch lighting systems manufacturer Philips Consumer Luminaires in the pilot project to be replicated across key Nakumatt outlets.
