Night Out on a Budget

It’s that time of the month when going out becomes a bit of a hustle for some. Most of the accountants started processing our salaries yesterday meaning we probably have to wait till Monday before our pay goes through.

What a disappointment, right?

Don’t despair; you can still have lots of fun tonight. Below are a couple of tips to help you budget your night out.

If you drink, it’s best to begin by easing up on the food and drinks. To cut on the food bill, you can opt to have dinner in the house before heading out.

Based on the fact that drinks cost more in clubs and pubs, for instance a bottle of beer at Mercury cost KES 250; it is cheaper to buy your drinks from a supermarket or at local wines and spirits retailers at lower prices, drink in the house and if you have to go to a club and buy one more drink.

Set you spending budget up front before you leave the house. Leave all credit or debit cards behind and stick primarily to the cash you budgeted for. It’s also important to inform the company you will be with on that night that you are on a budget. It will keep them from suggesting that you go places you can’t afford.

If worse comes to worse, look for free things to do. Take a moonlight walk with your partner, it’s as romantic as a pricey dinner.

Enjoy your Friday night out.
