The Nairobi Securities Exchange opened yesterday to low trading activity.
By our article at 1:17PM yesterday (see it here), the most traded counter on the NSE was Mumias Sugar with 498,500 shares, indicative of the low activity on the market. The subdued trading continued throughout the day, albeit improving slightly in the afternoon session.
Mumias Sugar remained the most traded counter on the NSE (read that article here) with 2.325 million shares traded in the day. Safaricom Limited came second 1.823 million shares traded in what was definitely a slow day for the counter that often trades in the 10 million plus region. Third was Equity Bank with 1.387 million shares traded in the day in 76 bids. KCB came fourth with 624,200 shares traded in the day while Barclays Bank had 420,900 shares trading to round up the top-mover list.
In total there were 8.139 million shares traded in 918 deals with a total equity turnover that was a little over KES 105 million.
