The shareholders of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) held an Extra Ordinary General meeting on Thursday 15^th March 2012 at the Sarova Stanley Hotel to elect a new board of directors.

This follows the re-registration of the NSE on 21^st September 2011 where the company changes from a company limited by guarantee to a company limited by shares.

The composition of the new NSE board has also changed in line with the new Articles of Association of the company. The board will be comprised of 6 independent and non-executive directors and 2 Trading Participant Directors. The Chief Executive Director continues to be an Executive Director.

The persons elected to the board of the Nairobi Securities Exchange are Mr.Eddy Njoroge, Ms. Winnie Nyamute, Ms. Farhana Hassanali, Mr.Samuel Kimani, Dr. Jonathan Ciano, Mr. Hosea Kili, Mr Bob Karina and Mr. Geoffrey Odundo.

Mr Njoroge has been the managing Director of Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN) since 2003. Ms. Nyamute is a CPA (K) and she holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Nairobi. She joined the NSE board on 3^rd September 2003.Ms. Hassanali has worked with HassConsult since its inception in July 2001 and she currently heads the property development department. Samuel Kimani served as the deputy, CEO KCB Group and is currently the CEO of Jamii Bora Bank Ltd. Dr. Ciano has served as the Chief Executive Officer at Uchumi Supermarkets Ltd. since 2003. Mr Hosea Kimutai Kili is a Law Graduate from the University of Nairobi and holds an MBA is Strategic Management from the Management College of Southern Africa. He is a Certified Public Secretary (Kenya) and is currently the Managing Trustee of Local Authorities Pension Trust that covers all the local authorities in the country. Mr. Bob Karina is the Executive Director of Faida Investment Bank and Mr. Geoffrey Odundo is the Managing Director and CEO of Kingdom Securities Limited, a subsidiary of Co-operative Bank of Kenya.

The names have been forwarded to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) for their consideration and approval.
