On Monday 26th March 2012, the Nairobi Securities Exchange announced that, in cooperation with FTSE, a world-leader in the provision of global index and analytical solutions, the delayed index values of the FTSE NSE Kenya 15 Index and the FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index are now available on the NSE website www.nse.co.ke . The latest values of both indices are available from FTSE every 15 seconds and will be displayed on the NSE website after a 15 minute delay. The new initiative gives investors access to current information and provides a reliable indication of the Kenyan stock market’s performance during trading hours.
The FTSE NSE Kenya 15 Index is a tradable index that reflects the performance of the largest 15 stocks trading on the NSE and is calculated in realtime in Kenya shillings.
The FTSE NSE 25 Index is a tradable index calculated in Kenya shillings that reflects the performance of the 25 most liquid stocks trading on the NSE. Liquidity here means the level of trading activity. Therefore the 25 most liquid stocks essentially are the 25 most active shares on the NSE.
