Oct 21 Morning Bell: Olympia Capital Up 89% At The NSE

Nairobi bourse plans platform for trading in carbon credits

An update on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) as at noon today,

Olympia Capital Holdings (OCH) was exchanging at KES 7.00, a rise of 89.19% from last Friday’s closing price of KES 3.70.

The winners

Olympia Capital, Longhorn Kenya Limited (LKL), NIC Bank Limited (NIC), Carbacid Investments Limited (CARB), and media company Standard Group Limited (SGL) are the companies whose share price had appreciated the most. Carbacid released its end of the year results on Friday reporting a 3.2% rise in profits.

The losers

Uchumi Supermarkets Limited (UCHM), British-American Investments Limited (BRIT), Total Kenya Limited (TOTL), East African Cables Limited (CABL) and Eveready East Africa Limited (EVRD) had declined the most in share price. Uchumi was today in the news over losses by its Tanzania and Uganda subsidiaries.

Most shares traded

Safaricom Limited (SCOM), Mumias Sugar Company Limited (MSC), Kenol Kobil Limited (KENO), Britam Insurance and The Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited (COOP) were the five most traded shares. Over 6.75 million Safaricom shares had changed hands in the morning.
