The winners

Kenya Orchards Limited (ORCH), Longhorn Kenya Limited (LKL), Olympia Capital Holdings(OCH) , Express Kenya Limited (XPRS), and TPS Eastern Africa Limited -Serena- (TPSE) are the companies whose stock price appreciated the most. The first four had been among the top gainers earlier today morning.

The continuous price gainby Olympia capital can be attributed to price volatility we explained yesterday. The Business Daily today reported that the directors of the company have advanced personal loans to its subsidiaries.

1200 Kenya Orchards shares exchanged hands today. Based on its income last year, the company is trading at a price to earnings ratio of 935.82. For comparison Unga Group Limited (UNGA) listed on the same market segment trades at a price to earnings ratio of 7.126. The share price trend for Orchards since April is given below.

 The losers

Car And General Kenya Limited (C&G), Standard Group Limited (SGL), Standard Chartered Bank (SCBK), CIC Insurance (CIC) and Unga Group Limited (UNGA)  shed the most value today. They ended the day at KES 50.00, 36.50, 321.00, 10.10, and 45.25 respectively.

Both the NSE 20 share index shed 0.15% today. Whereas the NSE All Share Index (NASI) rose 0.46% today. Each closed at 5,251.09 and 160.58 respectively.
