The winners

The price of Kenya Orchards rose 10% to make it the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. However only 200 Orchards shares changed hands in one transaction at 11.49 am today. Olympia Capital Limited continued its strong morning performance to end the day 9.45% up at KES 6.95. British American Tobacco Kenya, Express Kenya limited and Liberty Kenya holdings were the other companies whose value rose the most today.

The losers

Centum Investments which went down 7.52% was the biggest loser today. Other companies which shed value are Eveready East Africa, Britam, Unga Group and Pan Africa Insurance. The companies lost 7.14%, 5.04%,  3.94%, and  2.91% at the close of the bell respectively.

Most Shares Traded

Safaricom, Equity bank, Mumias Sugar Company, CIC Insurance and Kenya Commercial Bank had the most shares traded. 5.93, 1.85, 1.78, 1.73 and 1.61 million shares of each respectively changed hands today.

Indices

Both the NSE 20 share index and the NSE All Share Index declined in value today. Down 0.34%, 0.37% they ended the day at 5267.54 and 163.63 respectively.

Asks and Bids

Bids are prices quoted by prospective buyers while asks are prices quoted by prospective sellers. Pending bids/asks are those that are yet to get a match. They can be used as an indicator of the direction the price of a counter will take.

Eaagads ended the day with pending bids and no pending asks.

On the other Longhorn Kenya limited, and Olympia Capital ended day with pending bids but no pending asks.
