Oct 2 Morning Bell: Olympia Capital Holdings Up 9.45% At The NSE

An update on how companies listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) have performed as at 10.45 am this morning.

The winners

Olympia Capital Holdings (OCH) had appreciated the most in price. Its shares were exchanging at KES 6.95. The company has had two changes in executive directors this week. Longhorn Kenya Limited and Liberty Kenya (former CFC life) are the second and third top gainers. Express Kenya limited and Transcentury complete the list of top five. The four had risen 7.14%, 6.29%, 3.20% and 2.50% respectively.

The losers

Unga group (UNGA), Eveready, Sasini, Centum and Standard charted bank had shed the most in price. They were trading at KES 36.50, 4.45, 13.00, 32.25 and 332 respectively.

Most shares traded

CIC Insurance was the most traded share with over 700,000 shares traded. The other companies in the top five were Safaricom, Cooperative Bank, Centum Investments and Equity bank.

Bids and Asks

Asks are prices quoted by prospective sellers while bids are prices quoted by prospective buyers. Pending bids/asks are those that are yet to get a match. They (pending bid/asks) can be used as an indicator of the direction the price of a share will take.

Eveready had significantly more pending asks than pending bids. Total Kenya limited and Olympia Capital Holdings had significantly more pending bids than pending asks as illustrated below.
