The price of Limuru Tea rose 9.66% to make it the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. However only 300 Limuru shares changed hands in one transaction at 10.54 am today. Olympia Capital Limited continued its strong morning performance to end the day 8.63% up at KES 7.55. Unga group, Total Kenya limited and Kapchorua tea were the other companies whose value rose the most today.
Eveready East Africa which went down 9.89% was the biggest loser today. Other companies which shed value are NIC Bank, Eaagads, East African Portland Cement and Longhorn Kenya limited. The companies lost 8.92%, 8.13%, 4.76%, and 4.46% at the close of the bell respectively.
Safaricom, Mumias Sugar Company, ScanGroup Limited, Cooperative Bank and Equity bank had the most shares traded. 4.37, 2.48, 1.24, 1.16 and 1.12 million shares of each respectively changed hands today.
Both the NSE 20 share index and the NSE All Share Index rose in value today. Up 0.81%, 0.02% they ended the day at 5292.42 and 163.66 respectively.
Bids are prices quoted by prospective buyers while asks are prices quoted by prospective sellers. Pending bids/asks are those that are yet to get a match. They can be used as an indicator of the direction the price of a counter will take.
British American Tobacco (BAT) Kenya, Olympia Capital Holdings (OCH) and Kenya Orchards (ORCH) ended the day with pending bids and no pending asks.
On the other Eveready east Africa ended day with pending asks but no pending bids.
