An update on how companies listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) have performed as at noon today.
Eveready East Africa Limited, Olympia Capital Holdings,Kenya Orchards, Unga Group and Total Kenya are the companies whose share price had appreciated the most. Eveready and Olympia were 10% up as at 12.00pm to trade at KES 3.85 and 9.90 respectively.
Diamond Trust Bank, BAT Kenya, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), Longhorn Kenya Limited and Britam had declined the most in share price. The price shed puts BAT behind Limuru Tea as the most pricey share at the NSE.
As at 12.00 pm today
Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Mumias Sugar, Equity Bank, Cooperative bank, and Umeme the Ugandan electricity company were the five most traded shares. Over 20 million KCB shares had been traded by noon today.
Asks are prices quoted by prospective sellers while bids are prices quoted by prospective buyers. Pending bids/asks are those that are yet to get a match. They (pending bid/asks) can be used as an indicator of the direction the price of a share will take.
Olympia Capital Holdings and Eveready as at noon had pending bids but no pending asks. The two are the top gainers today.
