Orange Mobile yesterday launched its 42 Mbps network in Nairobi as part of its aggressive campaign to capture the data market share. Speaking during the launch, Telekom Kenya CEO Mickael Ghossein said the company has invested more than KES 4.13 billion in the roll out of its 3G services since 2011.
We have compiled a couple of facts you might find useful in regard to Oranges’ 42 Mbps network.
To enjoy the 42 Mbps speeds you need a 42 Mbps modem. You can buy a Orange Internet Everywhere 42 Mbps modem for KES 9,999 at Orange retail shops, but the KES 9,999 only covers the cost of buying the modem, you need to subscribe to a data plan.
Below is Orange Mobile internet data plan:
When one subscribes to a unlimited internet plan, they will be subjected to  internet speed capping. This means when one's data usage goes beyond a certain limit, their internet speeds will be reduced to the given limit. This means your 42 Mbps speeds will be reduced to the capped speed limit if your usage is beyond a certain limit.
