Below is the value of the PesaPortfolio at the close of trading on Wednesday 1st August 2012:
Since we last updated the PesaPortfolio at the close of trading on Thursday last week, it has lost KES 2,135.25 to stand at a total value of KES 90,912.25 from KES 93,047.50 at the close of trading on Thursday.
Total cash receivable if we were to sell the entire portfolio would be KES 88,794.70 after deducting transaction costs.
In comparison, cash receivable at end of trading last Thursday was KES 90,880.21 representing a cash loss of KES 2,085.51
Losses to our portfolio were attributable to the following counters:
- Mumias Sugar – The share gained a total of 5 cents on Friday through Monday to reach a one-year high of KES 7.00 before losing a combined 25 cents in Tuesday’s and yesterday’s trading to close at KES 6.75 per share; 20 cents lower than the share price on Thursday last week. This counter reduced the value of our portfolio by KES 270.00
- Housing Finance – After gaining to KES 15.90 on Friday, shares in Kenya’s biggest mortgage lender lost 45 cents in the three days of trading this week to close at KES 15.45 per share yesterday. Total losses to the portfolio from this counter were KES 385
- NIC Bank – The share gained consecutively on Friday through Monday, climbing to its highest price in just over one year at KES 38.75 on Monday before falling on Tuesday and yesterday to close at KES 35.25 and losing our portfolio a total of KES 750 since Thursday last week.
- Crown Berger – The share has fluctuated since Thursday, losing on Friday before gaining on Monday and then stabilizing at KES 32.00 since Tuesday which is 1 shilling lower than the share’s price when we last updated our portfolio. The total portfolio loss from this counter was KES 1,000.
Gains in our portfolio were attributable to the following counters:
- British–American Investments – Shares in the financial services company gained a total 30 cents on Friday and Monday before declining 20 cents from Tuesday to close at yesterday at KES 5.70 per share representing an overall 10 cent gain on the share since Thursday last week. This gain added KES 150 to our portfolio.
- Rea Vipingo – The share gained a total of 15 cents on Friday through yesterday adding KES 120 to our portfolio in the same period.
