Red Cross To Create New Jobs With Cross-Country Hotels

The Red Cross Society has undoubtedly done a lot of good for the society. From rescuing victims of natural disasters to providing quick responses to crises all over the world, the organization has proven itself to be a pinnacle of hope and inspiration. Now the international NGO plans to open up a 5-Star lodging dubbed the Boma Hotel, Nairobi in Bellevue Estate.

Located around the South C area, the hotel will join the ranks of the already established Boma Inn as well as other similar projects which have yet to be launched. According to the group’s Managing Director, Mugo Mariga, the Red Cross is about to complete the construction of another inn in Eldoret later this year. “We are looking to cover key county headquarter towns across Kenya with Boma Inns for Kisumu or Mombasa,” he said on behalf of the group.

The move will create jobs for potential staff members around the country. This comes shortly after the Society launched an affordable ambulance cover service dubbed Jisajili Ujiokoe. The service allows Kenyans to pay for a  family package which provides country-wide ambulance cover at an annual cost of  KES 6000.

The Nairobi branch is still in its trial phase though it already has a fully fledged spa, a gym, an aerobics studio, two restaurants, a bar, a coffee lounge as well as a pool. Mariga noted that all profits from the venture will be released to the Red Cross among other emergency response programmes.

The official launch of the hotel has not yet been revealed though the final arrangements are in play. President Mwai Kibaki is expected to officiate the ceremony, along with a Patron from the Kenya Red Cross Society.

Meanwhile, the organisation’s Red Court Hotel is currently undergoing renovations in a bid to expand its accommodations and meeting facilities.
