Sony Vaio has launched two new laptop models that allow consumers to use them for extended periods of time without a power source. The devices, dubbed Vaio S and Vaio E, each come with an extended battery that can last up to 1.5 times longer than the standard models. They also come with a slot in Optical Drive for extra storage.
“Not only do consumers want laptops that work; they want laptops that are designed with them in mind, which is why in addition to being powerful, fast, portable and sleek, our laptops also come with features that enhance the Sony VAIO experience,” said Vaio Senior Marketing Manager Shibuya Akira.
Sony notes that the average Vaio can last up to 5 hours and 30 minutes without a power outlet. The new models will last up to 8 hours and 15 minutes. The time may vary depending on the power consumed by the number of programs running on the machine.
The electronics manufacturer reports that the new devices are now available across authorised outlets across the country. They each come with a one-year local warranty provided by Redington and Anisuma Traders. According to a PC World price comparison from Easy Shop, an E Series can cost up to KES 102,000 while an S Series can go for KES 131,000.
The launch is part of Sony Vaio’s regional expansion strategy. The firm plans to branch further into East and Central Africa, by making Kenya their regional headquarters. They already have a presence in Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa and some parts of the Middle East.
“We appreciate that in a market where the pace of life is increasing, consumers need their laptops to be fast, functional and easy to carry, which is why these series are designed to provide powerful computing performance that essentially makes them full-featured mobile PCs with all the technologies needed for full mobile computing,” said Akira.
