Stocks Watch – 11 June 2012

At the close of trading at the NSE yesterday, the NSE 20-share index stood at 3,639.46 while the All-share index stood at 78.62. The total number of shares traded stood at 19.45 million in 1141 deals. The equity turnover stood at KES 203.302 million.

In today’s trading we will be observing the following counters:

  • Longhorn Kenya Limited: we continue observing this counter from last week as its exceptional performance during the week was definitely worth watching. On Friday the share closed at KES 19.25 down from KES 20 on Thursday.
  • Kenya Airways: On Friday the airline announced the results of its rights issue. The news that the issue received a 70% subscription and the anticipation of the integration of the new share is bound to have an effect on the share price.
  • British-American Tobacco Kenya td: the share appreciated 1.16% to close at KES 350 per share. The share seems to be edging towards its 52-week high of KES 360. We will watch this counter to see whether this will be attained.
