Today we will be observing the following counters at the NSE trading:
- Kakuzi – The horticultural grower’s share yesterday had its biggest one-day climb since January this year, gaining 6.7 percent to close at KES 80.00 up from KES 75.00 on Tuesday, Bloomberg data showed. Horticultural exports such as tea have this week lead to the strengthening of the Kenya Shilling’s against the US dollar from KES 84.13 on Monday to KES 84.02 yesterday according to Reuters.
- British American Tobacco – The share climbed to its highest price in more than five years gaining 1.6 percent to close at KES 380 from KES 374 yesterday on speculation that the cigarette maker’s half-year profits will increase, a report by Bloomberg said yesterday.
- CFC Stanbic Holdings - Today’s Business Daily reports that an investor is seeking Ksh 465 million from CFC Stanbic Bank, a subsidiary of CFC Stanbic Holdings and Dyer & Blair Investment Bank for a loss on returns invested in the two institutions. CFC yesterday fell 4.89 percent to close at KES 43.75 down from KES 46.00 on Tuesday. We will observe the counter’s performance today in light of this emerging loss claim on the bank.
- Uchumi Supermarket – The supermarket’s share gained for a fourth consecutive day gaining 0.31 percent yesterday to close at KES 16.05 from KES 16.00 yesterday. It has been revealed the the Government will not sell its 14 percent stake in the supermarket, opting to recover its investments through dividends, according to the Business Daily.
