Stocks Watch – 18 June 2012

The NSE 20 share index on Friday closed at 3,694.23 points while Nairobi Securities Exchange all share index closed at 79.82 points. The NSE closed with a market capitalization of 1,023.04 trillion with 18.88 million shares traded in the day.

The shares we are watching in today’s trading are:

Mumias Sugar Company: The company was the top gainer in Friday’s trading, moving up from KES 6.10 to KES 6.50 in the day, a 6.56% gain. The share has been quite active of late and we will keep eyes on it to see if there’s more to come.

Pan Africa Insurance Holdings: Also a top gainer from Friday’s trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the share rose KES 2 (5.84%) to close at KES 36.25 from KES 34.25 with 1,400 shares traded. The share has gained 29.46% in the last month and we will watch it to see of there is more to come from it.

East African Breweries: The share closed KES 2 up on Friday to end the week at KES 220 up from KES 218 with 37,300 shares traded in the session. The share is a shilling shy of its 52-week high and we will watch it to see if it can reach and set a new high.
