Here are the shares we will be closely watching in today’s trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange:

  • British American Tobacco – Shares in the cigarette maker closed yesterday at their highest price in at least five years according to data from Bloomberg. They closed at 399 shillings per share up from 388 shillings on Tuesday. We will keep an eye on the share today to see if it tops this current high.
  • Sasini – Yesterday  the horticultural grower's share gained for the first time since a profit warning announcement on Friday saw the  share lose 8 percent between Monday and Wednesday to KES 11.00 from KES 11.95.  It closed yesterday 5 cents higher than Tuesday at KES 11.05 per share. We will watch the counter today as it appears to be reversing the losses made earlier this week.
  • Crown Berger – The manufacturer of Crown Paints has gained for the past four days at the stock market, moving from KES 31.50 to KES 34.00 per share in the period. The share appears to be edging closer towards its peak price of the year at KES 34.75 reached three times in July. We will watch the counter today to see how it fairs.
