Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has issued the government with a two weeks ultimatum to ensure that it implements a 100 per cent salary increment lest they go on strike on 5^th September 2012.

Speaking to the media, KUPPET Secretary General – Akelo Misori said, “All principles of secondary schools, collages, technical institutions and teachers training collages should note that on 5^th September all teachers shall withdraw their labour.... They should not expect teachers to report on duty on 5^th September,” he further added that the government and Ministry of Education have up to 31^st August to engage the KUPPET on the unions' proposals.

The union says that the government has totally failed to honor their salary increment proposal.
