Teachers to Go On Strike

Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has issued the government with a two weeks ultimatum to ensure that it implements a 100 per cent salary increment lest they go on strike on 5th September 2012.

Speaking to the media, KUPPET Secretary General – Akelo Misori said, “All principles of secondary schools, collages, technical institutions and teachers training collages should note that on 5th September all teachers shall withdraw their labour.... They should not expect teachers to report on duty on 5th September,” he further added that the government and Ministry of Education have up to 31st August to engage the KUPPET on the unions' proposals.

The union says that the government has totally failed to honor their salary increment proposal.
