The cost of living has blown off the roof and it is quite a forgivable affair when consumers opt for manageable options at the till. The cost of machinery and household equipment has not forgiven us either.
Options exist, cheaper ones for that matter for acquisition of these items at ‘more affordable prices’. True to it, these items ranging from Fridges, microwaves, shaving machines, gas cookers etc do exactly the same job as the more expensive ones. Have you ever considered how costly it is to repair and eventually replace the ‘cheaper’ option of that appliance you use?
Consider Quality
Philip Taylor (PT Money) advises people to buy high quality things even if it costs a bit more up front. Look back at all of the things you skimped on over the years and ended up having to replace earlier than you expected. Suddenly that big sale or off-brand item doesn’t seem like such a good idea. This doesn’t mean everything that is more expensive is better, but use your smarts and know when to spend to find the best deal for your money instead of looking for the absolute lowest price on something. “You get what you pay for” still holds true for many things.
For instance, an Iron box that will cost you Ksh 1200 is likely to serve you for less than a year as opposed to one that you will acquire at Ksh 2500 that will serve you for as long as you would like to use it. The margin gets worse in higher priced assets.
So before you purchase something or grab the cheap deal, consider the quality.
