INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today edged 1 percent higher to the year’s highest of 3,941.10 points from 3,903.72 points yesterday while the All Share Index climbed 0.76 percent to 87.25 points from 86.59 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom shares were the most traded with 28.04 million shares up from 13.95 million shares yesterday while Kengen were second most traded with 3.49 million shares. Barclays Bank were third most traded with 2.97 million shares while fourth were Mumias Sugar with 2.43 million shares. Equity Bank was the fifth most traded share with 1.35 million shares from 1.51 million shares yesterday.
COUNTER WATCH
- CFC Stanbic Holdings – The CFC Stanbic Rights Issue was due to start today with trading of the CFC Stanbic Rights. The shares were one of the biggest losers of the day, dropping 4.69 percent to KES 45.75 from KES 48.00 yesterday.
- Safaricom – The shares today closed at KES 4.25 similar to yesterday which is their highest since January last year. They were also the most traded share of the day with 28.04 million shares across the counter.
- British American Investments – A day after the British American Group rebranded to the unified Britam brand, the shares gained 5 cents to close at KES 6.05 which is their highest price of this year.
- Kenya Re – After closing at a four year high of KES 11.60 yesterday, the shares dropped 4.64 percent to KES 11.30. Kenya Re provides re-insurance services to insurance companies in Kenya, Middle East and Asia.
