The general performance today in the indices was down with the NSE 20 Share Index performing 0.23 points lower to close at 3982.94. The All-Share Index performance was down 0.06 points to close at 87.13
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom Ltd was the highest traded counter today with 11.68 million shares traded while second was Equity Bank with 5.2 million shares. Kenya Airways was third with 3.08 Million shares changing hands and Kenya Commercial Bank was fourth with 1.72 million shares traded.
COUNTER WATCH
- Standard Chartered Bank – The counter saw shares changing hands at KES 213, a decrease of KES 1 from yesterday’s closing price. There is an ongoing rights issue that has thus far seen the rights trade at KES 89 yesterday and KES 53.50 today. This Rights Issue is on the basis of One (1) New Share for every Thirteen (13) Existing Shares. Only those who held shares on closure on 19 September 2012 can take part in this rights issue.
- Williamson Tea Ltd – Shares in this counter were trading at KES 219 compared to yesterday at KES 220. The shareholders have maintained the price range with only 200 shares being traded today. This counter may see fluctuations depending on whether local investors will react to the prediction that tea prices will increase.
- Scangroup – The share maintained yesterday’s price of KES 59.50. Last month, the shares were pushed to their lowest since early August to date of KES 56.00 after they were one of the highest sold by foreign investors. The shares did not top yesterday’s close.
