INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today edged 0.3 percent higher to a new high of 3,953.84 points for this year while the All Share Index dropped marginally to 87.22 points from 87.25 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom shares were for another day the most traded with 30.44 million shares up from 28.04 million shares yesterday while KCB were second most traded with 10.08 million shares. KenolKobil were third most traded with 1.35 million shares while fourth were Mumias Sugar with 921,000 shares down from 2.43 million shares yesterday. CIC Insurance were the fifth most traded shares with 855,000 shares across the counter.
COUNTER WATCH
- KenolKobil – Despite news breaking that the high court has blocked the sale of the petroleum marketer to Swiss Puma Energy on application by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) pending a court hearing later this month, KenolKobil shares gained 4.90 percent to become the second highest gainers at the NSE today at KES 15.00 per share.
- Athi River Mining – The shares dropped from their more than 5 year high of KES 214 down to KES 211 by the day’s close; becoming one of the biggest losers at the stock market today. Athi River Mining are one of Kenya’s largest cement producers.
- CIC Insurance – The shares ended their downward trend of this week by gaining 5 cents to close at KES 3.95.
