INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today fell from Friday’s second highest point of the year at 3,953.53 points down 0.08 percent to 3,950.18 points while the All Share Index rose 0.27 percent to 86.84 points from 86.61 points on Friday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom shares were for a fourth consecutive day the most traded with 8.50 million shares up from 5.60 million shares last week while CIC Insurance were second most traded with 3.23 million shares. Mumias Sugar were third most traded with 3.16 million shares while fourth were KCB with 1.41 million shares. Equity Bank shares were the fifth most traded shares with 514,300 shares from 2.24 million shares on Friday.
COUNTER WATCH
- Longhorn Publishers – The share closed at Friday’s low of KES 15.10 with no further losses following last week’s 10 percent drop after the publisher issued a profit warning for the financial year ended June 30th 2012.
- Unga Group – The shares today topped yesterday’s high of KES 14.65 to close 4.78 percent higher at KES 15.35 which is their highest closing price in more than five years.
- Equity Bank – The shares closed at Friday’s high of KES 23.75 which is their highest price since July last year. They were also the fifth most traded with 514,300 shares moving across the counter. The Equity Bank counter is one of the blue chip shares driving up performance of the NSE 20 Share Index to new highs over past weeks.
