Yesterday Pesatalk reported that your power bill may be higher next month. We were wrong. A practical calculation has shown that your bill this month, when all factors are considered may actually be lower than normal (assuming you use the same amount of electricity)
The Forex Adjustment component rate of electricity bills drops to 144.0 cents/kwh in September 2012 from 208.0 cents/kwh in August 2012. The Fuel Cost Charge of electricity bills has increased to 599.00 cents/kwh in September 2012 from 566 cents/kwh in August 2012. The remaining components of your electricity bill will remain the same.
Rise in fuel charge is what led us to believe that the price would go up but as the demonstration below shows that is not to be the case. The demonstration assumes 18 units of electricity was spent in both months.
The drop in Forex Adjustment cancelled out the effect of fuel cost bringing a drop of KES 5.58, or 1.75 percent. So maybe you should expect your bill to be just around the same place.
