The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has confirmed that plans for the staging of the fund’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the funds 47 year history are now complete.
According to NSSF Acting Managing Trustee, Mr. Tom Odongo, logistics and event planning elements have now been finalized ahead of the AGM set for Monday at the Moi International Conference Centre, Kasarani.
Delegates drawn from all the 43 NSSF branches across the country are expected to attend the historical AGM session to be presided over by NSSF Board of Trustees Chairman Adan Mohamed as part of the fund’s recently adopted corporate governance structure.
According to the AGM Notification statement, the agenda of the meeting will be to; to read the Notice convening the meeting, presentation of the Chairman’s report, presentation of the Auditor’s report and Financial Statements for the year ended 30th June 2011 and presentation of the report on the Fund’s investments. The AGM also lists other items on the agenda as being the remuneration of Trustees and a presentation by the Retirement Benefits Authority or Any Other Business arising.
Speaking after a facility inspection tour of the Kasarani AGM venue, Odongo explained that delegates set for the AGM are representative of the fund’s membership and have been nominated by respective employers and employees across the country.
“The hard planning work has been finalized and we are now ready to host all the delegates including the representatives drawn from all 43 branches across the country representing FKE and COTU members,” Odongo explained.
Among other elements, stakeholders including NSSF members shall during the AGM get a firsthand glimpse on NSSF’s financial statements and investment mix.
